In most offices
(and homes) there is a security system and an alarm panel that
can report
the changing of status (open/close, burglary/fire, restore, …),
if the telephone line is available.
If not then the Central Monitor Station (911) does not receive
any information from the
customer. The problem with this system is that the telephone line
may be problematic, may get cut off or short (technical problems
by supplier or by burglar), or the CMT is very busy (the end of
line equipment cost is too high). By adding to the existing system
a GSM reporting capability there are no more wiring problems
and system enlarging (establishing) cost is lower for the CMT.
Additionally the customer
is able to call their GSM partners through the same phone in home
network price.
